Many of you already know us and know the values that we hold as a company but allow us to reintroduce ourselves to anyone who may not be as familiar—We are Schellenberg Development Company, a locally and family owned commercial and residential development company in Wichita, KS. Being in business for 30 years, you may have heard the name but are unfamiliar with just how much SDC has shaped the West side of Wichita.
If you take a drive around west Wichita, you’ll see community after community bearing the SDC name. Some of our older developments are:
- Avalon Park
- Forest Lakes
- Fox Ridge
- Hampton Lakes
- North Ridge Lakes
- Reflection Ridge
- Shadow Lakes
Reflection Ridge is definitely one of the most well-known communities on the west side, with its winding roads (a key feature in all Schellenberg communities) and beautiful golf course that seems to age like a fine wine.
Fox Ridge is the next—the development that is shaping the way SDC designs their neighborhoods. Not only does it incorporate the winding roads and medians, which are a tactic to slow traffic speeds throughout the neighborhoods and maintain a safe environment for families, but it also incorporates reserves, berms, and native grasses and flowers. Founder and owner, Marv Schellenberg, wanted to create communities that enhanced the natural beauty of the developed land, not destroy it. We highly recommend taking a drive through this neighborhood to catch a glimpse of what homeowners have fallen in love again and again as the foliage becomes more and more established.
Our current communities include Bay Country, located on 119th and Central, Estancia, located 37th and Ridge, and Arbor Creek—our newest community—located at 183rd and Pawnee in Goddard, KS. All of these include those same key components for a Schellenberg development. Natural landscaping. Native grasses. Winding roads.
As we said earlier, SDC is family and locally owned and operated. When you work with our office, you are usually working hand-in-hand with either Marv Schellenberg himself or one of his 4 children that are now a part of this company. Family doesn’t stop there, though. From the first employee to the last, each one is treated as an extension of the Schellenberg family. Even the dogs have a part in the office.
So if you’re considering building a home, consider a Schellenberg communtiy, where we care about your family just as much as we care about ours.
