Parade of homes: 3 weeks of heavily trafficked model homes in residential development. That is what the public sees, but what all goes into the Parade? From a developer’s standpoint, it’s months of planning with builders, architects, landscapers, and community managers to make sure that home buyers drive or walk into a development and say, “WOW.” From the second a builder commits to having a hole in the ground to start a home, our community managers are asking if it will be ready by Parade. Why is this so important?

Parade of Homes is an event put on by builder associations (in our case, The Wichita Area Builders Association, aka WABA), to showcase the developments and new model homes in the area. This is a chance for builders to really flaunt their expertise and uniqueness; for developers to highlight why their community is the one home buyers want to build in; for real estate agents to show their clients homes and features that aren’t available in the resale market.

Our Entries

 

We had 5 total entries in the 2021 Spring Parade of Homes: one in Estancia, our boutique style new home community off of 37th and Ridge, and 4 in Arbor Creek, our Goddard, KS community located off of 183rd and Pawnee. We are so proud of our builders and how they really stepped up their game to have their homes completed in time for this Parade—even with difficulty getting supplies with the crazy construction and lumber market we are in.

Beverlin’s Pick of Parade

For two parades in a row (2020 Fall and 2021 Spring), we have had one home that CLEANED HOUSE…no pun intended. The Sycamore plan in Arbor Creek by Beverlin Custom Homes is a 2 time “Pick of Parade”—huge honor, “Kitchen Design”, and “Master Suite & Bath” winner for the $251k-$300k range homes. You heard us right. A TWO TIME winner in ALL THREE categories. This home is an absolute crowd favorite.

Additionally, we have had multiple homes built at this design, intended to be spec homes (a “non-custom” new home that is move-in ready), bought at framing stage. Beverlin Custom Homes cannot get this design built fast enough for how popular it is. Our current model of this home is located at 1065 Arbor Creek, Goddard, KS.

Honorable Mentions

While our other entries did not win in any categories this Spring, we are no less proud of the builders and their designs.

The Riverton II by Moeder Construction is another favorite in our Arbor Creek Community. There are multiple custom homes being built right now with this same floorplan. It’s open concept living design is perfect for families that love to spend time together without feeling cramped.

The Opal plan by Vision Homes may not have earned any awards this Parade, but it did win “Unique Feature” in the 2020 Fall Parade of Homes for it’s broom cabinet built in a side wall of the kitchen. Vision Homes knows that the little details matter. No more brooms falling over or having to wedge them out of sight in a closet or pantry.

Let’s be honest, we love all of the home designs in Arbor Creek. The Hannah II by Moeder Construction is no exception. Exposed beams in the living room, 5ft tile shower in the master bath, and a custom wood range hood are just a few things that make this home beautiful.

Estancia is really moving along…In fact, it’s moving so quickly that we almost didn’t have an entry because our homes are selling before we can even classify them as a “model” or “spec” home. We even had to make a last-minute substitution to our entry because of a home sale. McClellan really brings it when it comes to home designs, so either home entered would have been/is a home run. The Chelsea by McClellan Enterprises is a new home floor plan that we saw a version of in Phase II of Estancia. This new build in Phase III has a few upgrades and modifications. It just keeps getting better and better. We wouldn’t be surprised if this home sells during the next two weekends of Parade.
